The California Office of Emergency Services (OES) invited Dr. Lucy Jones, Chief Scientist of the USGS Multi-Hazards Demonstration Project to detail the southern California Earthquake Scenario now under development at their Emergency Managers meeting in Los Alamitos on May 24th The earthquake scenario will be the centerpiece of OES’s largest-ever emergency response rehearsal in the history of southern California. This rehearsal is being planned for the latter part of 2008. The scenario earthquake, the secondary hazards, and the consequences will detail a realistic and plausible sequence of events from which the emergency planners, managers, and responders must react.
